What We Believe In

1. We always aim to promote your health
.
Dr. Pankey said ‘I never saw a tooth walk into my practice’. We think that means a tooth always has a person attached to it! We don’t treat a tooth, we treat a person. We believe it’s the person not the procedure that is most important. So we always have your long term health in mind whenever we work together. As part of this we will be offering you advice on how to look after yourself and prevent further diease or problems.

When it comes to teeth, we are not interested in waiting for dental disease to attack before reacting. We believe that, by investing in prevention of disease, you will enjoy a healthy and great looking mouth into old age. In the long term, you are likely to suffer less pain and discomfort and spend less time and money on your dental treatment. As medical knowledge grows, you can be sure we’ll be keeping up with improvements to offer you the best chance of keeping your mouth healthy for the rest of your life.

2. ‘WIDIOM?’ - Our philosophy for new clinical procedures
.
‘WIDIOM?’ stands for Would I Do It On Me ? This is probably the best measure of our confidence level in a new clinical procedure.

New ideas are being introduced by manufacturers all the time. Sometimes they look good on paper but have not been thoroughly tested in the clinical environment. We are very keen to keep at the forefront of modern world class healthcare. However, we are also very cautious about new developments – there have been many false dawns. So the test we apply to any new idea is WIDIOM – would I do this on me (or a member of my family).

3. You have the right to make an informed choice
.
We see ourselves as partners in your health and well being. Part of our job is to provide you with a range of treatment options along with the likely benefits and disadvantages associated with each. The range will include the most advanced as well as the simplest, wherever possible. You will then be in a position to make an informed choice for yourself in accordance with your time and financial restrictions.

We always try to act with your needs uppermost in our thinking. This is obviously better for you, helps us sleep soundly at night, and in the long term makes for a sound professional business – a win-win situation!
