Invisalign is a pioneering new technique, which straightens teeth without the need for metal braces or destructive porcelain veneers.

We are currently the only dental surgery in the area to offer the service, which use a series of nearly ‘invisible’, custom fit, removable mouth trays, or aligners, to straighten teeth without the need for metal wires or brackets.

The aligners are made using state-of-the art computer imaging technology, which is the first of its kind in the world. The aligners are removable, so patients can eat and drink as normal during the treatment process. They are comfortable, and with no metal or wires, there is less chance of abrasions, or damage being caused to teeth and less time spent in at the dentists getting adjustments.

The whole process is as quick and easy as traditional braces. First of all, a series of detailed bite impressions are taken by the team at Gorse Covert. These are then sent to technicians at Invisalign® in the United States, who transform these models into a highly accurate 3D digital image.

A computerised movie called ClinCheck® is then created, which shows the movement of teeth from the beginning to the final position. This means that before they embark on any treatment, patients can see exactly what their teeth will look like at the end of their treatment.

Invisalign® uses laser scanning to build a customized series of clear and removable aligners that reflect each stage of the treatment plan.

When worn, the aligners are virtually undetectable. Each aligner is worn for a two to three week period and removed only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Each tray is designed to apply a controlled amount of force to the teeth, enabling them to move into place little by little, week by week, until they are straightened to the position prescribed by dentists at Gorse Covert. Patients generally visit the practice every six weeks to ensure treatment is progressing as planned.

The total treatment time can range from 9 to 18 months, according to each individual’s treatment plan.
